Community Ministry
We all live in community, and as followers of Jesus seek to answer the question, “what can a neighbour do for a neighbour?” How can we take the God’s light out to the edges of the Kingdom in very practical ways? This is mostly informal but very real and essential to the ministry of the church. Regular community ministries include hospital visitation and a meal ministry to provide home-cooked food for families within or connected to the church, when needed.
Craft and Cuppa is an outreach programme into the wider community. A time to relax with friends and make something new, meet at DBC on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month, 10am - 12pm.
The church has in place a Trust (The Two Rivers Community Trust) for the purpose of facilitating ministries to our community. Though the Trust has been in recess since September 2021, it is ready to be reactivated when there are suitable trustees and community needs we wish to respond to.
Wider Ministry
Darfield Baptist has been involved in many other ministries beyond the church. For many of the below, several of the committee/board members over many years are connected to Darfield Baptist church.
ANZAC Service at Darfield Cenotaph
Arthur’s Pass Chapel Services once or twice a year
Westmar Rest Home services
Darfield Baptist is active in working with Christians and churches across the community. We often have combined Easter services. Our pastors have been a part of the Malvern Ministers Assoc, representing Malvern Anglican; Hororata Anglican; Malvern Co-operating (Presbyterian/Methodist); St. Joseph’s (Catholic) and Darfield Life Church.
